LOGOS

Mr Paul Corrigan, Chaplain at JPII
Previous Publications

We are nearly halfway through this year’s Lenten Journey. You can certainly see something is different in the school. The chapel is now a “desert” space, the crucifixes have been covered, and purple is the primary color used. More importantly though, lent is a time of self-reflection and a call to repentance.

This year, we thought it was important to take the time during lent to reflect on many of the global issues that affect our world. To that end starting on Fri., April 7 until around 10 am Sat., April 8, our school is hosting a ThinkFast. Participating students will be asked to raise a minimum of $75 for Development and Peace (a social development program of the Canadian Catholic Bishops) through a 24 hour fast.

A variety of activities, both fun and educational, will be performed throughout this marathon of hope for poorer nations. This non-smoking event promises to be a great time and have a lasting effect for many.

Also, I thought I might take a moment to mention a new course coming to John Paul II High next term. Vatican Studies 35. Co-developed by a teacher at Arch-Bishop Jordan and myself, this 3 credit course is a look inside the centre of our Roman Catholic faith. The theology, history, art, and architecture of Christian Rome will be studied in this course that will include a pilgrimage to Rome itself, to witness and experience the very things we learned about. The course will be open to students in grades 10-12 and the trip will be taken alongside students from Archbishop Jordan. Feel free to contact me for more information.
